Rice Queen has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Sous Chef to join the team at our busy Fitzroy restaurant.
Rice Queen is a fun packed, kitsch Pan-Asian restaurant that is open for lunch and dinner 7 days a week. Our share style menu draws inspiration from all across Asia mixed with a modern twist. We pride ourselves on offering an accessible menu that everyone can enjoy.
You will be working with experienced ownership and management; within an established hospitality group that is looking for talent that can progress within the company.
Located in beautiful Brunswick St; getting to and from work is a cinch, with parking available or public transport 3 metres from the front door! You'll join a friendly and vibrant team, supported by a structured management system, complimented by our fast-paced environment
This is an exceptional career opportunity for a determined and energetic chef who likes to be challenged on a daily basis.
Key responsibilities of our Sous Chef include but are not limited to:
· Creativity and passion for the industry.
· Ability or willingness to understand all financial requirements including food and labour costs.
· Generating ideas or creative alternatives, and be able to adapt to trends which will increase business performance.
· Assist in supervising all food services and staff performance ensuring staff motivation and training is maximised at all times.
· Menu execution support with standard recipes, preparation procedures, cost and service procedures.
· Ensure menu items, specials and recipes are fully costed, tested and approved before implementation.
· Ensure full implementation of HACCP code of practice.
· Manage the overall hygiene and aesthetic cleanliness of all areas of the kitchen.
· Maintain high standards and set the standard for all to follow
Successful applicants must have:
· Experience in high quality food
· A flexible approach to their work
· Trade qualifications & a current food safety certificate
· Available to work a variety of shifts
· Function & high volume experience
· Strong leadership abilities
· A proven background in a similar role
· Excellent communication skills
